The ABC of Leading Change: Keeping People Engaged Through Tough Decisions
Purpose-led organisations exist to deliver positive impact for people and community. But funding pressures, regulatory change and rising costs are forcing hard conversations about sustainability — and what that means for the services they deliver now and into the future.
The challenge? Not everyone in your organisation, let alone the people you serve, will automatically understand why change is needed. So where do you start?
Louise's A, B, C for leading sustainable change:
A — Assumptions. What are you assuming your people already understand about the context you're operating in and the need for change?
B — Beliefs. What do they actually believe about sustainability, what it means, and how it affects the work they do every day?
C — Curiosity. Lean into the conversations. Share context, but genuinely seek to understand what your people do and don't understand — so you can bring them with you.
If sustainability is a hot topic for your leadership team right now, start with the A, B, C and keep the conversations going.
